About Me

I began writing software at a young age and have spent more than three decades pushing the boundaries of what machines can perceive, understand, and accomplish. My work has progressed from graphics and distributed systems through computer vision and edge ML to the rapidly advancing frontier of artificial intelligence. Along the way, I have built and led engineering and research organizations at Microsoft, Amazon, Apple, and venture-backed startups, turning ambitious technical ideas into products used around the world. Today, as a Partner at Techquity, I advise executives, founders, and investors on AI strategy, technical diligence, architecture, and engineering leadership. What energizes me most is the moment when technical possibility must become a durable product, a high-performing organization, and a viable business.

Career Highlights

At Microsoft, I recruited and led the team that built Kinect for Windows, then led global-scale platforms supporting Xbox One and the Microsoft Store on Windows 10. At Amazon, I led the engineering team that launched Alexa's far-field voice shopping experience and architected Fire TV's global search and discovery platform. As VP of Engineering at Xnor.ai, I scaled the company's R&D organization and drove the commercialization of efficient deep-learning technology for edge devices, culminating in the company's $200 million acquisition by Apple. At Apple, I led an applied AI/ML research and engineering organization of 100+ researchers and developers whose work shipped across products including iPhone, Vision Pro, and Apple Intelligence. Earlier in my career, I held key leadership roles at Wildseed and co-founded Varia Mobile, guiding both companies through acquisition.
